The Adaptive Environment Monitoring Network for East Africa (AdEMNEA) Project’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on November 13-14, 2025 brought together researchers working on practical ways to improve how communities monitor and respond to environmental changes across East Africa.
Several solutions were shared that can directly benefit everyday life. One project is improving how monitoring systems are set up so they can adjust quickly when conditions change. This helps ensure that important information, such as weather updates, reaches people on time and without interruption.

Another area of work focuses on reducing energy use in these systems. This means devices used in farms, water systems, or weather stations can last longer without frequent charging or battery replacement, saving both time and money.
There is also work being done to detect early signs of pest invasions using changes in weather. This can help farmers act early, protecting crops and reducing losses.
Overall, these efforts aim to make environmental monitoring more reliable, affordable, and responsive. This will help farmers, communities, and authorities make quicker decisions, reduce risks, and improve livelihoods across the region.
