THE SMART BEE MONITOR – AN ESSENTIAL TOOL FOR MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE ANIMAL INDUSTRY & FISHERIES (MAAIF). Dr. Amulen Deborah (Entomologist - MAK).

Researchers at Makerere University under the AdEMNEA, a Norwegian Funded Project, seek to develop & deploy an Adaptive Environmental Monitoring Network for East Africa (AdEMNEA) which will facilitate the Systematic Monitoring of Fruit-Flies & Bee Species – a Core Mandate of the Department of Entomology under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry & Fisheries (MAAIF) in Uganda.

Dr. Amulen, a Researcher at Makerere University believes the use of Cameras to capture Audio & Video feed plus Imagery of all Bee Activities in & around the Hives will simplify the Supervision work both by the Bee Farmers & the Department of Entomology – MAAIF by sending timely Alerts on a Mobile Application & Web-Based Platforms.
